Scarborough Civil Service Club Victoria Road, Scarborough 01723 Saturday Night
Members Club situated quite centrally in Scarborough. Awkward lift down an alley at side of club (past the Wheelie Bins) and into a Fire Door just at side of small stage. You then need to move vehicle, and it can be very difficult to park nearby, particularly during the summer months. The "Dressing Room" is the Committee Room on the 2nd floor! Good attentive audience, although some do leave after bingo. Payment can be by cheque (although I've always been paid cash). Booked by McLeod Holden Agency in Hull.
Scunthorpe Liberal Club Gilliat Street, Scunthorpe, N E Lincs DN15 6EY Telephone 01724 - 842050 Saturday Nights
Fair sized club on the outskirts of Town Centre, with large stage, and small dressing room off the stage and down a couple of steps. Loading is through a rear Fire door and although a short distance it is a little awkward to get large speakers through dressing room door, up a couple of steps and then onto stage. Alternative is to go through larger swing doors into Concert Room and then lift onto stage. Bingo based audience, room empties after last bingo. No pick-up through Lincoln Management, and quite a lengthy wait for money!
The Ship Inn (01430 872006) 30 York Road, Shiptonthorpe, York YO43 3PG Thursday Nights
Country and Western Music venue held Thursday Nights. Small room, but friendly crowd. 3 spots required of Artiste, although last spot is normally "a mixture" of country & Pop. Occasional Karaoke Night. Landlord / lady is Ed and Trish. Awkward lift, through 2 narrow doors, and then through into dining area. Also do evening meals and Bed & Breakfast - located on the Wolds Way!
Skipsea Beach Club Ulrome, Skipsea, East Riding of Yorkshire 01262 468544 Various Nights through Summer
Fair Sized Club attaching to Caravan site on the Easy Yorkshire coast. NPU booked through Newlands Artistes of Hull
Spalding Services Club 24 High Street, Spalding, Lincs PE11 1TX 01775 723955 Saturday Night
A little difficult to find, this Club is situated on a one way street along side the river which divides Spalding. Loading to the club is through a double crash door round the back of the club, which is up about half a dozen steps. The stage is a reasonable size and is only a few feet from the fire doors. There is a dressing room just slightly forward and to the right of the stage, which looks as if it's a one time been a toilet, with 2 cubicles at the back. The spots are very different to the norm - although it said 3 x 40 minutes on the contract (from Lincoln Management - the Club's Agents) we actually did a 55 minute spot, then a 40 minute spot, then finished off with a 30 minute spot. The Chairman on the night was Mike and they are a good audience, but they like to dance - whether slow or fast - all night.

Access is by ground floor fire doors, then up 2 flights of steps and about a 30 foot walk to the stage. There is not a lot of room on the stage, particularly for speakers since the compere has his speakers and bass bins on stage. All music to finish by 11.45. There is a decibelometer which is on a low setting. Venue is booked by McLeod Holden Agency in Hull.Tony Yeaman left October 2003 - looking for new compere.

It is a short and easy lift with only a few feet from the front door which opens onto the road, to the small stage, which also houses a Karaoke set-up. There is no dressing room. Main Road, Gilberdyke 01430 - 440269
Friday & Saturday Nights

Recently (2003) taken over by new Landlord Vince Cohen, books 60's Music on Friday Night and Country Music on Saturday Night. Quite a large room in this pub which is on the outskirts of Gilberdyke, a village just off the M62 between Goole and Hull. Artists can back their vehicle up to single crash door at back of pub, although the terrain is a little rough and dark at the end of the night.

Willows Social Club

Saturday Night

Booked by Newlands Agency in Hull - use Resident Backing.

Withernsea Boating Club Lee Avenue, Withernsea, East Riding of Yorkshire Saturday Night

A Members Club situate right on the Sea Front at Withernsea, accesible via a cul-de-sac called Lee Avenue about half a mile before reaching Withernsea Centre on the road from Hull. Just before the bottom of the cul-de-sac you turn right into a small access drive for some Old Folks houses and park your vehicle in the left hand corner near to the wooden gate which is the rear access to the Club. Access is a little difficult (especially when wet as you have to walk over a grass verge) through the wooden gates, in through the Dressing Room and round to a fairly small stage, at either side of which are speaker poles, to avoid the need for your own Speaker stands. The dressing room is quite small but OK for the solo singers which they normally employ.

They are a mature, though appreciative audience, some of whom will slow dance in the first two spots, and then dance to the more popular songs a little later in the evening (They love Penny Arcade / Achy Breaky Heart etc etc) Concert Secretary is Brenda who took over in May 2003 and she books direct, although well in advance.
